Teacher Instructions

1. Sign In or Create an Account

If you are new to the CLIA website, you should create a new account. Once you have created an account, if you return to the CLIA site you should sign in to your existing account.

1.1 Create a New Account

  • Go to the CLIA Homepage and complete the "Create Your Free Account!" form.
  • Provide your first name, last name, your email address (which will function as your username), and give yourself a password.
  • Select the radio button "I am a teacher."
  • Click the "Create Account" button.

1.2 Sign In To Your Existing Account

  • Go to the CLIA Homepage and complete the "Already Have An Account?" form to sign in.
  • Enter your email address and your password that you used when you created your CLIA account.
  • Click the "Sign In" button.

2. Add a New Project

When you've logged into your CLIA Teacher Account, you can create new projects (lessons). You will add your groups of students to these projects. Your account comes with one free trial project. Your account will tell you how many more projects you can create in the "Add a New Project" section of your account page. When you need additional projects you can use the "Request Additional Projects" form.

2.1 Create Your New Project

  • Click the "Create New Project" button.
  • Complete all the fields of the "Create Project" form. (The students you invite to this project will also see the project information you enter when they sign in.)
    • Give your project a Name.
    • Write a short description or class instructions in the Details field.
    • Enter the project's due date.
    • Enter your list of students, one per line, in the Student List following the comma-separated format guide (Last name, First name, Group number).
    • Click the "Save Project" button.
    • Your project will appear in the "My Projects" list. Follow the instructions to View Your Projects.

3. View Your Projects

When you've logged into your CLIA Teacher Account, any projects you have created will be listed under "My Projects." You can return to this list by using the "View My Projects" button in the "Options" menu.

3.1 View A Project

  • Click on the name of the project you'd like to view in the "My Projects" list.
  • Click the "View Project" button.
  • Review your "Project Details," the "Project Class Roster", or you can "Add Another Student"

3.2 Invite Students to the Project

After creating a project and adding students to the project, you must give your students the "Project Invite Code" so they can join the project with their CLIA Student Accounts.

  • Follow the instructions to View a Project.
  • Find the "Project Invite Code" located in the "Project Details" section.
  • Provide this code to the students in the groups for this project.
  • Students will follow the Student Instructions to "Add a New Project."

3.3 View Grades and Students

When viewing a project, simply look at the table of students and grades in the "Project Class Roster" section. This table shows the average grades assigned and received for each student that has logged in and completed the grading process.

To view the specific breakdown of all individual grades received and assigned by a particular student, click on that student's name and then click the "View Student" button.

1.2 Sign In To Your Existing Account

  • Go to the CLIA Homepage and complete the "Already Have An Account?" form to sign in.
  • Enter your email address and your password that you used when you created your CLIA account.
  • Click the "Sign In" button.

2. Add a New Project

Before you can give grades to students in your group, or view the grades you have received, you must add a project to your account.

  • When you are logged into your CLIA Student Account, you will see an "Add a New Project" section.
  • Get the Project Invite Code from your teacher, and type or paste this into the "Project Invite Code" field.
  • Press the "Add Project" button.
  • Click your name in the Roster to select it. If your name does not appear in the list, ask your teacher to add you to the project, and then start this process over.
  • Press the "Add Me To This Project" button.
  • Your project will appear in the "My Projects" list. Follow the instructions to View Your Projects.

3. View Your Projects

When you've logged into your CLIA Student Account, any projects you have added will be listed under "My Projects." You can return to this list by using the "View My Projects" button in the "Options" menu.

3.1 View A Project

  • Click on the name of the project you'd like to view in the "My Projects" list.
  • Click the "View Project" button.
  • Review the "Project Detail," assign grades to students in your group in the "My Group" section, or you can view the grades you have received in "My Grades".

3.2 Give Grades to Your Group

  • Follow the instructions to View a Project.
  • In the "My Group" section you will see a table listing the students in your group.
  • For each group member, assign a grade for all five categories. Watch the "Points" column to make sure you are assigning no more than 50 points per student.
  • After assigning points to all group members, press the "Save Grades" button.
